Milo (aka the adorable, possibly the best pup in the world) is a sweetheart. He sleepily gets into his crate around 10 pm, and will stay asleep till about 6 am, give or take half an hour. Which I am told is not bad at all for a 11 week old.
However, I need help figuring out the morning crunch. When he barks that he is awake, it's a mad dash out to pee. Then he gets his kibble, and I take him for a 30 minute walk. Back again to poop in the backyard, and finally about an hour later he will let me pen him. Meanwhile, I have kids to wake up, oatmeal to make, (haven't even had any coffee yet!) How do you all manage this? I tried keeping him with me in the kitchen, and he pooped in there. He won't soil his crate or pen, but he doesn't get that the other parts of the house are inside too. I tried keeping him out in the backyard, which is safe, and he barks till I join him. I tried putting his kibble in a wobbly toy, but he gets so excited he barks at it, and my neighbors sure won't appreciate the canine alarm clock at 6 am. Any advice on how I can buy myself about 40 minutes between letting him out to pee, and having my kids up and at breakfast?

AWWWWWWWW.........look at that face! Who could ignore that?
Well........it's PUPPY time for you and your family! They are demanding for sure! Maybe try some sort of toy where you can shove some peanut butter in it. Then put him in the crate and let him spend that 40 minutes trying to dig that peanut butter out! As each week passes, he will become more and more content to give you that time. 11 weeks! He sounds like he's doing really well! When you're working in the kitchen and trying to get the kids ready etc..he really needs to be in the crate. He will poop for sure if you're busy and he has some free time........it's just what they do.

So we tried something new today. Bought a bunch of kongs, stuffed them with kibble, sealed the opening with peanut butter (thanks, Linda) and kept giving him one after another while we did our kitchen chores. 6 kongs kept him busy for nearly 40 minutes! Ofcourse, if I make the kongs harder to empty, he loses interest and barks, but hey, for right now this works.

glad to hear you came up with a temporary remedy .....MILO's habits will change making it EASIER as he matures to do your morning rituals with kids, puppy and more.
