Default Obedience class.

I need to get McGee in an obedience class. I have a friend who started classes at Petsmart but quit after the first one because she said there were 12 people in there all with their clickers going off at the same time. She said her dog didn't know when she was clicking and I can see how this could be very confusing to the dogs. Is that just something you have to work through? McGee already knows what a clicker is and what it means but if there are a bunch of people around clicking he'll go crazy or just shut down I'm afraid.

That post just sounded funny!! :P
I haven't heard of great results from Petsmart, so I'm glad you said it first via experience from your friend. As you explained all that clicking...OMGOSH! It would have to be confusing!!

I would search out a private trainer in your area. Yes, they may be a tad more expensive, but well worth it.

Default Re: Obedience class.

is it the clicker class..if so they you d just have to live with it unless the
instructor takes control of the activities..

we were very happy with our results at Petsmart..we had a very good instrutor
who also mentored teams going into service work with autistic children..so i felt
we were in good hands..

the beginner class s tend to attract the largest groups..usually as large as your, 12..and
following class s tend to be much smaller..in our Advanced Class there was just 3 teams..
Toby going into therapy work..another was already search and rescue certified and
shepherd who s owner just wanted a well trained companion..

we were very fortunate to have had the same instructor thru all our class s..
