We had a post about ALD last week about the cost of breeding dogs. I am intrested in the cost of an F1b and higher american line LD, with just lab and poodle. Any breeders have aball park number?
Edit: Doesnt have to be a quote from what you sell them for but "I see them selling for" would be ok. |

Hi Todd,
The prices for American Doodles will range for breeding dogs as much as they will for pet dogs...for instance, a breeder who sells pet puppies for a few hundred dollars will likely sell a breeding dog for a few hundred more and one who sells for close to $2000 for pet puppies will charge quite a bit more. That being said, many breeders will trade puppies (pick of the litter) or give you a good price with a promise to get a pick of the litter from your litter (or more than one litter). Some will co-own with you and charge less. Often a good breeder will hold out a good puppy (one selected as a breeder) and have it tested and then sell it for a premium price. What I am saying is that there really is no ball park figure. You could pay nothing (as in a trade) or you could pay up to $6000. I have not heard of more than that, but it is possible. I actually co-owned a pup with another breeder and he was fully tested...except for his eyes, we paid $6000 with a warranty that he would pass the remaining tests...and it turned out that his DNA test for PRC was positive and we had to neuter him. The breeder only refunded up to the cost of a pet puppy ($1200) but at least we got much of our money back. (I don't like that philosophy...to refund up to the pet price...a breeder does not want a pet!) I know that this is not a conclusive answer, but it is the best I can do. |

I bought an F1B fully tested and ready to breed for 3000.00. But I do think it depends on who you are buying from and the lines also. Hope that helps.
