Hello, breeders!!
I have been so happy with all the wonderful answers and help I get on this forum. You all are the best. But something strange has happened. I got a private message from someone that was very negative about Doodles. They were pretty adamant that Doodles are terrible dogs to own. Now, I might have put more stock in it if the person had not suggested that I simply buy a Poodle instead and then left her name and her website! She is a breeder of Standard Poodles!! I was very turned off by the message and was not sure if I should just ignore it or is it is something I should turn over to the moderator. I, personally, do not care and am happy to forget it. But I am not sure how you all feel and whether this is something that is common. If you all want me to give it to the moderator, I will. Thanks for the advice!

I have gotten PM's from a poodle breeder on here too in the past and in those messages she stated some lies that were outlandish. I forwarded the matter to Mark and let him deal with it.
At that time she claimed to have lurked here for quite some time and was just telling me these things "for my own good". I imagine it's the same person... so Mark won't be surprised.

I think I know who it is...and if so, what a sad life this person must lead.
I love Poodles. I am friends with some Poodle breeders...they have great ethical standards... Obviously, the PM tactic speaks for itself and I would not want to deal with such an underhanded breeder. I doubt that they are able to sway many Doodle people. Thanks for making this public. Hmmm, if you wouldn't mind sending me the web page in a PM, I'd appreciate it. |

ditto! to what jac said...please pm me as well if you have time
in the future send it to Mark or myself as this is not someone wanting to be a member of this forum, rather they are a person with one sided views that haven't walked a mile in a doodle's shoes (so to speak)

Annmarie, I apologize! I never looked closely at your avatar and title so I did not realize you were an administrator on the site.
I will PM you the email I got. Thanks, everyone. I am a convert and can't wait to get my Doodle. But the message could definitely scare a newcomer away. Plus, it is just not nice! If someone is legitimate in their concerns, they should voice them openly for all to see and not send a sneaky, nasty PM!!

What I think is really sad about this is that this Poodle breeder is sooooo fixated on Doodles. If it is the same person that I am thinking of, she has been lurking and sometimes posting on all sorts of Doodle sites. The reason that I find this so silly is that if she spent as much time contributing to a cause that really mattered, and left people alone to make their choices regarding the type of dog they want (surely there are enough puppy buyers to go around!) then she might be able to make a positive change on some important issue.
Instead, she wastes her time on a futile effort (futile because she is so misguided) to discredit Doodles. The only good that comes from these types of people is that it makes Doodle breeders aware that in order to be accepted, we MUST be top notch breeders. The biggest complaint from people like this is that they believe most Doodle breeders are trying to jump on the "fad bandwagon" and get rich by putting any Lab and any Poodle together. But by our reputable, caring Doodle breeding practices, we put people like this breeder in their place...and we don't need to do anything except to keep producing the quality dogs we are producing. The problem is (and here I agree with some of our critics) that too many people are becoming profitable back yard breeders by breeding sub-standard Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. That is the real shame, in my opinion. |

I'm a moderator and administrator at 2 different forums. This kind of sleazy stuff happens all the time. Someone lurking or even joining pops in and messes it up for everyone.
I'm glad you're getting a handle on this.
