Default Stud service facts

I've been approached by someone who wants to be able to use my chocolate standard poodle boy with her gorgeous f1 goldendoodle. It's not something I've really considered as I got him just for my own use and enjoyment.

What all should I consider?
What's the downside?

I had him in for a well puppy exam today and my vet said while he's in good condition and should "soon" be ready to go. So since he's only 9 months old and her dog is due to be in season very soon... how do I address that?

Is it more bother than it's worth? lol

Help! I don't even know how to respond to her request.

TINK for starters is this AI shipped or natural breeding?

1. Brucellosis test (spelling i have to check) is mandatory for both dogs if natural or the GD dam has been bred naturally

Annemarie, she wants to have it done naturally.

The more I think about it, the less inclined I am to jump into it.
Right now I have so much on my plate and neither Chip nor I am prepared.
I think she's just going to have to keep looking. I'm not sure it's worth the trip at his tender young age anyway. LOL

Tink, were YOU going to make a trip to the bitch's owner?

This is the thing: Everything in stud service is negotiable. So you get to decide what would be worth it to you. And then you decide if it's worth it or not. You decide if you want payment up front, who goes to whom, etc. and either the other party agrees or not.

When do you start testing your dogs? The other breeder should have the same standards as you, because they might want to post or advertise that the stud is from you, or list your website, fyi, so you are linked to them.

What if the breeding doesnt take? Are you ok with her keeping 2 or 3 puppies for breeding? Or selling them to other breeders? Or not? There is a lot to think about, but yeah, it's all as negotiable as you want it to be.

Thanks Maureen.
I've given this a lot of thought the past few days and I'm really not interested in putting him out for stud. For one, it's putting him at risk with unknown dogs and whatever issues they might have... physical or behavior wise. Plus it means juggling dogs that I'm not familiar with since there's no way I'd consider sending him to their place to do it. I'm not set up for it, and feel it would simply be more trouble than it's worth to me right now.

So I've turned down her request.
