I AM TRYING TO INQUIRE WITH THIS INSURANCE CO. FOR BREEDERS TO BE ABLE TO AFFORDABLY GIVE EACH CUSTOMER OF THIER PUPS A ONE YEAR POLICY AS A GIFT.
ANYONE WITH ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS INSURANCE FOR PETS WOULD BE WELCOME. QUICK REIMBURSEMENTS IS WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR. CURRENTLY WORKING ON PRICES WITH THEM AT PRESENT AND WILL POST ANY NEWS ON THE TOPIC AS I GET IT. IF IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS CO. IS NOT TOO GOOD, WILL RESEARCH WITH ANOTHER CO. WE ARE TRULY A GOOD GROUP WHO WANTS THE VERY BEST FOR THIS BREED. I THINK IF WE COULD OFFER THIS TO OUR CUSTOMERS WE WOULD SURELY STAND OUT FROM THE REST... |

Hi Martha, I posted a comment on the other thread but wanted to add something here.
First, I commend you for going to this trouble...I really appreciate it and think that the idea is wonderful...in fact, I will PM you with an additional "ingredient" to include for that carrot you are dangling in front of the insurance company's nose! I think that would be a nice thing for us to do for our pup families, going a little extra...but since I donate do many pups (giving them the same things as the expensive pups, microchip, vet care, vaccines, food, toys, blankets, etc.) adding something else would be tough...BUT I would love to arrange a group discount and pay for the first 3 or 4 months, with the puppy family having the option of picking up the discount for the remainder of the pup's life. If they elect not to, the discount would no longer apply...this would be an incentive for the pup family to continue to insure, and an incentive for the insurance company since it would continue for many years. |

I agree, Nancy, it would be much easier to do if the company offered special incentives for us to give insurance...maybe by offering a month free to our puppy families.
I send a ton of stuff home to my pup families too, and it is very, very costly, so I do understand what you are concerned about. Still, if there was a way to offer it, even for a month, it would be great! |

Metropolitan insurance has a subsidiary pet insurer by the name of "Quick Care Pet Insurance". They offered a 15% discount on any of their plans.
They told me they could not BY LAW offer anything more than the 15%.. Now I do not know how true that is but that is what this particular company told me over the phone. Just to let you all know ..This was the only Company I researched. I am waiting to see if anyone has any other feedback from this particular Pet Insurance Co. before we make our final decision. or if anyone has any info. on any particular insurance good or bad. |

I insured Chouette in December with Metropolitan Life, using the QuickCare Gold 90%. I called them first, because I liked the idea that they offered coverage for hereditary issues as well as accidents, and they sounded good. The agent discouraged me from getting QuickCare Complete, which covers well visits, because he didn't think that was worth the extra money. He also said that VPI only covers 80% of the lowest price in the area for a particular service. I have no idea if that's true but I thought the hereditary component was a dealmaker, just to avoid any debate about whether or not the issue was genetic or due to an accident. Kristen seemed to be dealing with that with VPI over Napa's situation.

What Leslie said is right about VPI's coverage. We went with them due to cost...we already belong to Banfield and much of our costs are already lower due to our plan with them. We wanted something low cost to be extra in case of a future emergency. I got their lowest plan.

I have Metropolitan on Tanner. I too got it because they covered heredity issues as well as sickness and accidents. I just recently upgraded to their newest policy which pays for $150 worth of yearly vaccinations, dental, heart worm meds for $10 more per month. I figure I just save $30 dollars.

I received a check yesterday from Metropolitan. They paid exactly as they were suppose to. I have a $100 deductible and then they pay 75% after that.
I could have chosen a 90% pay plan but the 75% includes the yearly exam, dental, heartworm meds, and they pay up to a higher maximum. I am please especially because I went to a different vet and he did not give a very detailed explanation of what the problem was and they were fine with that.
