I just wanted to let everyone know all went well! Lilly had 12 pups the 29th. All are healthy, and totally adorable. We even got the parti pups we were hoping for I wanted to say thanks for everyone's advice. It turned out to be a long few days. Lilly would go into labor, all signs, if she even heard the other litter of pups. Since everyone is in our house it took some wrangling to keep her out of earshot. It's odd, I kept thinking, there is no way she could really go into labor just from hearing another litter. But she did. The moment she would hear them she would start dripping milk, start nesting and within the hour start visible contractions. Odd. But it had a wonderful ending. AND she managed to have them on the bed and whelp box, not perched on top of a dresser!

Cathy!! How wonderful!! This is a great story and a happy ending.
It also gets me into the beauty of animals and nature. The fact that a loveable dog can beging to labor by the sound of another is so AWESOME! Provided all works out well! I'm so happy it worked out wel for all of you!

Well, I have no idea how to post a picture, otherwise I would proudly post away! I didn't know sounds could bring on labor either. My uneducated guess is it is just triggering some instinct from her ancestors. Who knows. Maybe the milk production being stimulated to that point( she was dripping and squirting) caused the uterus to contract? Bringing down the temp and everything included?

Fabulous! Congratulations, Cathy! Wow...I can't imagine how tough that was on you! I know that I have had dogs I thought would whelp and I sat up with them for 24 hours...nothing...I worried to death, but they were not in heavy labor either...just a few mild contractions...they make us nuts! hahaha
I'd love to see the pics too...
I am so glad that mama and babies are well.

I LOVE hearing such a GOOD NEWS UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

and go to photobucket
it's soooooooo easy and before each secction on this site, there is a sticky NOTE on how to post pics
if not Pm me .........i'll help ya out

what colors did she have?i can't wait to see pics!!!

I know 2 things....when i bred Dicus fish ........the other females some would lay unfertilized eggs and tend to them
and when i was nursing my kids, heaven forbid i hear another baby cry in supermarket, i'd leak

so it does make sense that she whelped earlier than usual

Close, Cathy! I could follow the link and the pup is sooooooo danged cute! Oh, how I love parti babies!

When you go to photobucket and run your mouse over the picture, a block of text appears and gives you four options...two of those options are Image Code and Direct Link. For me, one of those has worked for every forum. THIS FORUM uses the Image Code.
So, you look at that block of text, move your cursor to the image code selection and it will become highlighted. Then copy that link and paste it to your post. Example below

Image Code Copied here

Direct Link Copied here

Another option is to use this forum's upload attachment (look below your post when you are typing)..you click on "upload attachment" and then "browse" and select a photo, then double click, it will download and then you select "place inline". But the problem with that attachment is that 1) the picture must be smaller than it usually is in your computer and 2) you get the picture with scroll bars...here is an example:

The reason it is not posting is because the code is not right....
You need [IMG] on the left of your image too.
[IMG] on the left of link, beginning
[/IMG] notice the slash....signifies the end of the path, hope this makes sense ...

http://i670.photobucket.com/albums/vv62 ... C_0018.jpg[/IMG]
You need this on both ends of EACH picture for it to post...
