Default Pawsitive ID

The Kit price had gone up from $35.00 to $75.00 because of the PRCD? Had anyone bought a kit with the new price, and did the turn around time improve?

I know many of us have used pawsitive id and happy with the results to-date HOWEVER i had mine done last April

i will say this even at $75.......compare the prices to Optigen and Vetgen which will cost over $400 to have the same tests done
thus i'd pay the lesser and wait but that's just me. i can't get to the website as i just recieved an email they're having problems
and will check out vWD .........but if they do 20 other disease tests along with coat color

i'd just have the vWd done at another site as it's still a great savings.............you've got my curiosity up now
and can't wait to get to the site when it's running properly as they were updating it and had problems

I agree with Annmarie, the price is a bargain even at $75. The first VetGen test I had was vWD and it was $75 plus an additional $45 to test color (special deal to buy one get another discounted!)
For Pawsitive ID, I paid $45 before...and that was the multiple test discount, so I think they only increased $20-30.
I never had a problem with the wait time. It took about 3-4 weeks which I thought was very reasonable. They were great to send the results via email and then followed up with a hard copy.
I think that they are a good company!

Glad to hear it's still a bargain-seems like their website is up and running smoothly now.

I'm waiting on results right now... will let you know how long it takes.
I have to agree with the others... $75 is still a bargain!

I have to agree 35.00 was a bargain but to add PRA for 40.00 so now paying 75.00 it is still a bargain isn't it. It use to cost what around 200.00 or more just for PRA result with other companies. This is great they are making it so much easier for breeders to test the dogs they love and to help protect the puppies they produce!

I just looked at the new site for Pawsitive ID and vWD is still included in the test kit....
(Thankfully, as i intend to use them....Best prices still and I was very happy with their service....
yes, slow at first, but Rick answered emails with questions I had and then kept me informed with the progress being made getting through all their orders...which did swamp them at first....I was pleased overall.
I wonder if they print results for the color dna in a more normal way....like the BbEe type notation....
I wish they did that, if they don't now. See link below.

Oh! For Pete's Sake!! I didn't see that! Thanks, Todd....

I am disappointed. Wonder what the reason for that change is?

For Poodles and Doodles, that test is really important!!

It is pretty crappy news. I really liked their kit, but now you have to do vWD by your vet. It was so convenient when it was all together.

I think I will write them and see why they changed it.
If we request they include vWD again....maybe they will....
depending upon why they removed it to begin with.
Seems crazy to me without knowing their rationale.

oh well.

Are all the puppies gone, Todd? How soon will you be having another litter?

i'd be curious to why too.

wondering if
1. it's legalites?
2. another infringement due to patents?

and here's a search i did on vWD testing costs anywhere from $99 to $140+
http://www.google.com/search?q=vWd+test ... lz=1I7SUNA

in past till Pawsitive ID came about if you added up all the tests you needed plus adding coat color and more
it was between $400 to $580 on other sites

I think they discontinued it when they moved to the bahamas, they did that to skirt a patent concerning PRCD, probably ran into an international patent problem with vWD. I hope they add it back in soon.

We have one little guy hanging around until the end of the month (Bailey). We didnt charge extra for the month of boarding past 8 weeks, but man, we will next time. It is a lot of work housetraiing a puppy!! But also so fun, he is an amazing little guy. We only have on girl, so we will have another litter when Hershey cycles again in June. We are trying to decide between using the same stud, an awsome tested chocolate poodle, or try somebody new stud, a brown and white parti poodle so that all pups will be parti factored. We are leaning to the parti guy since we want to keep a girl for breeding, and may also offer a boy for stud and the parti carrier may increase interest. But if he doesnt work out we are very happy with the stud we used last time.

They still test for type III vWD but I don't think that is one associated with our dogs. I did write to them today and ask what is covered in type III.
