Breeding an F1B

Hello All! I am not sure if there was a thread about this before but I didn't find one.

Anyway, has anyone bred an F1B back to an F1 labradoodle before? I am not sure if breeders do this or not, I know the crosses are F1xF1 and F1BxF1B. Have you bred an F1B back to another labradoodle cross, any experience on this? Hope someone can share.

Hi...this is exactly the litter I now have!
Actually, from my perspective this is the best (but I will tell you more after my pups grow) because often my F1Bs have really curly coats, so if I take a curly coated F1B to a nice coated F1, I think that I will get really good coats and still keep the earlier generation personality and traits.
I love F1s and I love F1Bs and with my pups, I believe that the F1 X F1B cross is the most promising.
FYI, I just checked the ALAA site today and they are now calling this a "multigeneration" Labradoodle...don't know that I'd go that far, but if that is the official title, it is much easier than trying to explain it! LOL

Wow! I didn't realized your current litter is F1xF1B. I would definitely watch your puppies and see how their coats turn out. So far do you think you will have lots of curly coated puppies? I couldn't tell yet from the pictures, they are so adorable Jac!

Does the momma of this litter shed?

Yes, I have 2 curly coats...the rest appear flat or slightly wavy...which could mean either 1) fleece or 2) Lab! LOL
Only time will tell!
Normally, when Bayley (this mama) gives us pups we get a few GORGEOUS fleece coats but mostly we get very curly (wool) or scruffy. Bayley does shed, lightly. We have only bred her to a Poodle before now...
This F1B is beautiful...he has a wavy to curly fleece coat, very thick, no shedding at all.
When we have "perfect" coats, they always start out looking like flat coats so I have high hopes for these pups...in fact, I was disappointed to see the two curly coats!
I have found that when I thought we'd have Labby looking dogs we usually had fleece...although we have had our share of Labby looks too...I can tell, usually around 3-4 weeks what we are going to have...so I am watching them carefully!

At first I thought Bayley is an F1B with a beautiful Fleece coat. Usually F1's are more on the flat coat. We'll definitely watch them grow

My Tuesday (F1)is what most would consider a "Labby" coat. It is very thick...some spots are very, very silky, then there is a "cape" of coarse, wavey hair down her back. She was bred to a poodle.
He first litter of 11 produced 1 silky, wavey, non-shed fleece, 2 silky, curly non- shed fleece, 6 with super curly, wool to wool-fleece blends....all non-shed, then one that looked like a lab but ended up with about 3 inches of coarse/silky, slightly wavey hair coat that sheds a little, and then one guy that had big curls of coarse & silky hair that sheds some.
Tuesday has been bred again to a different poodle & it will be interesting to see what happens this time.
I am wondering if so much poodle came out of a "labby" F1 & poodle, if maybe next time I should go with a heavy coated,straighter fleece coated F1B..... or would I end up risking on getting more shedding dogs.
Now Marley, Tuesday's son, F1B, has a silky, curly wool-fleece coat (non-shed). When I get him a girl, perhaps I should look for a fleece, wavey, thick coat F1, that doesn't shed???

I have done that breeding twice both time the litters were inconsistant and were not the desired coats,
i have decided to just stick with F1 and F1B Labradoodles ,,if i continue to breed labradoodles in the future that is

Are you concentrating on aussiedoodles or moving in an entirely new direction......there is a bernadoodle (bernese mountain dog x poodle) breeder here that has nice looking puppies with great colouring. Are you making a new doodle?

Im sticking with Goldendoodles and Aussiedoodles
occasionally Labradoodles ,,
We are expanding into other things i will announce at a later date,,(no not breeding another type of doodle,,,yikes,,bernadoodles, absolutley not,, i would not breed a Larger doodle for anything in the world!!!)

Thanks for thinking of us...yes, the coats are changing. I can tell that some will be wavy fleece...one or two look Labby...*sigh*...we'll see! I should know more in about 2 weeks. The two cream boys are going to be gorgeous! Two of the black pups will have curly fleece, but all of the others are just not too easily defined yet.
I was looking at pictures of their daddy when he was small, his curl was quite obvious...so these pups won't have his curl, but I know that at least half will be fleece. The others? We'll just have to wait and see! Baylye's coat didn't fluff up until she was quite a bit older.

I am amazed at how much
the Labradoodle coat changes as they mature!!
It's kind of fun to watch it work itself out!
I have heard their coats can change slightly
until they are nearly three years old.

Thanks for thinking of us and checking our pics!
I need to get batteries for my camera! Sheesh, they burn out fast!
I will try to get pictures tomorrow, as we are moving the pups to a larger area since they are exploring more and playing a lot now.
The pics on my blog were taken about 3 days ago so they are pretty much accurate.
Yes, their coats change a lot! I think that we will only have one or two curly ones (which is good!) and most should be wavy fleece. I am pretty certain that we have one Labby girl! She is a cutie though...her coat is long-ish, but not like the others so this litter is totally new to me! Nothing like we have had before... fun!

Hi Jac! Just checked your website recently and your puppies are so adorable! I think I see the labby girl you mentioned. Any changes on their coats so far? How many do you think will be shedders?
