I know this is an old post, but I just ran across it and had to put in my 2 cents.

There goes the government again, sticking it's nose in where it does not belong. We already have way too many laws on the books "regulating" our industrial markets. Our forefathers never meant for the government to become as huge as it has, It was put in place to protect our freedoms, not regulate business. Markets will dictate what is accepted and what is not, as in the case with puppy mills and such. The newsmedia is doing a decent job of bringing this out into the open and people are listening! I do not know ANYONE who has gotten a dog in the last 5-10 years that has bought an animal from a pet shop, save fish. It will take time, but I believe we can put them out of business! The internet is a great resource and people are very willing to research this and other things. I just think that people some people are far too willing to let the government regulate what they think is wrong, but it's not the government's job and by allowing them to pass laws to "protect" us we come closer and closer to a "Big Brother" nation.
