We had a female in the past and my husband wanted another female basically because he didn't want to run into boy "parts" when he was giving a tummy rub.
Now we have two boys but we've also foster girls this year. I don't think I can really pinpoint any difference that is specifically related to gender. Each dog is different and has its own temperament and funny piccadillos. Charlie who I've had since a young pup is completely devoted to me. He likes nothing better to sit next to me or lay next to me or just be in the same room with me. I've never had a dog before who has quite like this. Deb

Hamish is the first male dog I've had in 30 years - all others have been females - the girls seemed to be a bit more attached to my husband - Hamish loves everyone in the house!! - he seems a bit easier to train than the girls but perhaps we've just gotten better at training over the years!!

I was all about girls until I got Charlie.....one of his testicles didn't drop, so we had him fixed early. I think he is the more affectionate of my two (although my girl isn't a doodle) -- he is more accepting of anyone (dog doesn't know a stranger) -- a little goofy but totally a people pooch and a trip hazard (since he is always right there!) - I wouldn't hesitate to get another boy.
