I've told you all about the loss of our last 3 Standard Poodles, and was wondering if you could tell me the differences you see between the Goldendoodle and the Labradoodle. Sometimes it's difficult for me to visually see the difference, but I'm really interested in the temperment. We are carefully considering a doodle, but need help deciding which is best.

Get both!!! Seriously....Maya is a cross between a labradoodle and goldendoodle and her temperment is awesome!!! I was so proud of her today I just have to share....we were at a dog park and there was a handicapped child there that was wanting to play with all the dogs. She went up to Maya and My was so calm and just sat there. Then the child didn't want Maya near her anymoe so she started poking My in the eye (at this point I am freaking as the child's mom is doign nothing and I am to far to stop My from biting) My just sat there and when the child turned for a second My trotted away and came by me. I was so astonished.....My is usu a lil monkey and jumps and stuff but she was just so awesome with this child I couldn't believe it!!!

I could ask are you more a Lab or golen retriever person???
OR i could say I have Max a black f1 LD and Peanut a F1 GD who is nonshedding and has fleece coat. Max can be more energetic at times when peanut would rather lie at your feet with her "duck" in her mouth 24/7. now some will say it's breeding, but Peanut was instinctually excellent with infants to small children whereas Max needed more careful watching as he would get a tad excited at times. both train easily but i'd say Max the LD trained faster. peanut matured earlier and calmed down considerably at age 11-12mos I love them both they balance each other out. Max can jump higher but both are very agile and poodle type thinkers.......just that peanut is hysterical at times taht she knows how to do something but will she? (goldens can act dumb at times to get away with things) Max on otherhand is alert and ready to report for duty 24/7 hahhaa Peanut needs grooming every 3 to 4mos,,,,,,max you wash and towel dry that's really all the maintainence to him you can't go wrong either way

Thanks for your responses! I've only had S. Poodles, and have only seen Goldendoodles in person. These guys are different looking and sifferent acting however they are from the same breeder. I wondered if the 2 different breeds required different amount of exercise, were some better with kids or were either less mouthy?

I think a lot depends on if they take after the lab/golden or the poodle. I've met many golden/labradoodles at the dog park and they seem so similar to me in so many ways!! I really don't think you could go wrong with either.
I have heard F1 goldendoodles shed less than F1 labradoodles - so if you want a F1 that may be an advantage for goldendoodle over labradoodle...but the shedding part can vary from dog to dog. I would find a breeder you like and then go from there with what is available to you Good luck.
