Checking paperwork question

Hello everyone!
This is probably a very stupid question, but I've never bought a dog before so really don't know what to look for. What should the "papers" look like as far as the parents' health and background are concerned? Thank you in advance!

Hi Melissa and welcome to the forum

I would make sure that you get copies of the parents health testing, especially hip scores. The more health testing that has been done on the parents, the better. It is a good idea to get pedigrees on the parents of the pup you choose. Ask for a copy of the pedigree before you buy the puppy so you can make sure that there has been no inbreeding.

There has been a lot of helpful information posted on this forum on what to look for in a breeder, questions to ask, etc. I would recommend doing a search of the archives to find a lot of answers to questions that you have.
