lauren you shouldnt click on any links unless you know what it is (boy do I sound like the mom I am!) actually no one should! I clicked on a link once and it shut down my computer after going through a 10 minute slideshow that I couldnt stop. I have heard that some links actually steal information from your computer or infect them with viruses some which can be fatal to your hard drive.
so I guess I am saying no one click on anything it could be very very dangerous. |

Hi everybody,
I am not a breeder, but it is apparent that there are considerable pro's and con's to offering visitation. I can only imagine that Jac is right (she usually is) when she states that it is a decision similar to parenting decisions, where choices are made by caring parents for various reasons, with no absolute right or wrong. We take in all the information available, and make the best decision we can, on an individual basis. Some of you know me from other posts. I am a newer doodle mommy, we have our pup about a month and a half. Many of the breeders here have responded to me in the past, both before and after I chose my pup. I have received wonderful advice, and links to important articles, which I deeply appreciate. So I am writing to express my thanks (at this time of Thanksgiving) for all of your thoughtful time and efforts...Jac, Maureen, Mickey, "Dixie D" and "Gracielou". A special thanks to Nancy, whose website I have enjoyed a great deal. I have found it both educational and enjoyable, especially when I first began to research doodles. I apologize if I unintentionally left someone out. Also a big thanks to all the owners who have helped me as well Last but not least, a huge thanks to Lisa who taught me how to post photos! By the way... has anyone been able to help Keita find a pup? Happy Thanksgiving to all! Maddie |

For some reason I didn't get notices of these responses...but I am glad that I read the nice Thanksgiving post from Maddie!
Thank you!! And, about taking the pups to the vet...yes, that scares me to death! But I have to because my vet won't come here...so I put them in a crate and take an empty crate to put them in after they are checked...and they never touch the floor of the vet office. Still I worry. |

My vet comes here,,, have you asked your vet if they will do a home call since you are a breeder? or call around someone might if your current one doesnt
I refuse to take my pups in,,there is too many germs that can be past thru the vets office |

I actually have switched vets and planned to call them tomorrow to see if they will make a house call for my puppies...I hope that they will. My other vet would not...but then she was just worried about making big money from me, not in helping me out!

Maddie you are very welcome. I am glad that there was something that I could do to help. One of my passions is photography, so helping others share their photos is the least I can do. In a way it is selfish, I get to see other's beautiful doodles! Everyone on this forum is AWESOME

Hey Lisa
It seems that you and I have more than just doodles in common. I love taking pictures, as well as viewing them. (Although I don't have your talent). This past summer I spent weeks researching a new camera purchase, as my first camera was no longer functional (just a compact point and shoot), but a big purchase for me. I wish I knew you then, because I see that I really overpaid for a camera that came out, and was replaced by an upgrade within 6 months! I could have used some camera advice! In addition it appears to me that my Lexi and your Toby are similar in both looks and temperment, so your doodle advice has been much appreciated as well! How old is Toby now? Is she still a handful??? Looking forward to hearing from you. Maddie |

Maddie I just found tis post from you
Toby will be 9 months on the 31st. He is sweet as can be but he is naughty. He is not hyper, but he still will mouth us, not bite but will put his mouth on us. He counter surfs and is a thief, opening the closet and grabbing things is his favorite along with shoes. He and Lani have completely different personalities. She will be a year old on Christmas and IS hyper. She is a clown. We love them both we say who needs TV when you have doodles!

Hi Lisa
I chose the canon SD700IS. Before Lexi (this summer), mostly I took pictures at my kids football games, so I was specifically looking for image stabalization, because I was getting so much blur. I am satisfied for the most part, but a little annoyed, because this is my second digital camera, (so I don't upgrade often) and I spent weeks trying to decide which to choose, and only a month later, the camera is obsolete! Currently, the camera I bought over the summer, which had just come out, has been replaced by the SD800IS (go figure). The newer model has 7mp, mine is 6mp so that doesn't bother me. The newer model has a new "faster" processer, and that doesn't bother me either becaues for me, my camera's pleanty fast. The only feature I would have enjoyed is what they are calling a "face detector". Supposedly if I am shooting on the field, all the faces would be in focus, as at times I find that I take a shot, and I can tell that the camera has one face in focus, and the others are not as sharp. That can sometimes be a problem. For the most part I am satisfied with the camera. It takes pretty good shots under most conditions. Now, of course, most of my pictures are of Lexi LOL! So her face is always in focus, but as you can see by my photobucket pictures I still need to figure out the best way to deal with different lighting issues. Thanks for the comment about my son. He is 17, and will be leaving for college in September. I am having huge separation issues. Both my kids are teens, and I hardly see them anymore. They're good kids, but are needing me less and less. Lexi is my "change of life baby". No kidding, unless the boys are sick, or need CASH, I rarely see them. So Lexi is it. And just like when I first had kids, and couldn't believe how hard it was, that's how I feel about "bringing up Lexi." She is a joy and we are all in love with her, and wouldn't change for anything, but WHAT A JOB. I keep running around telling everyone that I'm too old to have a toddler (Lexi) running around the house without a diaper! What was I thinking????? We try to keep her well exercised, so for the most part she is not "hyper". Like Toby, she still mouths on occasion, mostly when she first see's you, and is excited, (we're working on it because I really want to put a stop to it) but she never really did bite. She is 4 months now, and not big enough to go counter surfing, but I'm not looking forward to it. We spend almost all of our time together in the kitchen, because she is not completely trained yet, and the rest of the house is carpeted. I know that she probably should be spending more time in other parts of the house, but I know she is not trustworthy. She will chew anything available, so I'm afraid. How long does it take? WOW, what a long post! Thanks for listening Maddie |

OK, so I am a little late in posting on this but I have to agree with
Nancy. Parvo is deadly and from what I have read and learned if the breeder asks enough questions they can really suit up a puppy with the right family. I myself want to see the puppy first but still stand by what I wrote. I was lucky in that no one wanted Max hahhaha he had a crook in his tail ( like a dog we had when I was a small kid), had a poodle tail, short. And was laid back, quieter yet playful. he was playing with a goldendoodle litter and hung out with his dad. Max has added so much happiness , love and laughter into our family. He feels more like my baby than a "pet". Luckily the breeder and I are friends and right now I am helping socialize a litter of goldendoodles with her and her family. Otherwise no one is allowed to get her pups until 10-11wks of age nor visit before then. Nancy is a responsible caring breeder. If she lived closer I'd love to get one of her pups or Jacs and many others that post here continuously. Ok now that i've written a short novel on my day off hahahhaa back to work here as Max is finally taking a nap after our 1.5hr adventure walk through woods and trails.
