OMG! I ran across that photo somewhere in my searches and didn't realize it was Copper! He looks like a totally different dog.
I will definitely do some checking before getting Bailey groomed because I don't really want her clipped that short. Just my person preference.

Hey, go to this page: http://www.idog.biz/Downloads.html and scroll down to "groomer instructions" and print it off for your groomer. Tell them to read and study it BEFORE you take your dog in...it should help!

Hey All, Copper's ears were burning.

ZMan for your reference here is a picture of Copper's coat taken recently (pre-groom). He has a really curly, cottony coat. He doesn't look too matted either, but he is, despite daily brushing, dematting etc.

For All, Copper's recent haircut was not an accident. I asked the groomer to go as short as she needed to to get under his matts. I don't believe Copper is comfortable with his hair being pulled as I imagine his matts must have felt. I love the shaggy look too, but I will not let Copper suffer for my visual pleasure. He may not look like the same dog but I assure you he is the same goofy, loveable dood that he has always been.

Aw, Vicky, I was afraid that this might be getting to you...and I am sorry...because there is NO DOUBT in my mind that what you do for Copper is because you feel it is best...and a coat is just a coat!
By the way, you posted one of my favorite pictures of Copper and Jason...one that I use to send to prospective buyers to show how loving our pups can be...

To everyone...I have been lucky enough to live nearby and visit with Vicky and Copper, and the entire family...and Copper always looks perfectly groomed. Vicky must brush him constantly because he never looks rag-tag like my dogs get sometimes...and I really appreciate that.

I couldn't ask for a better home for my puppies and I just want everyone to know that everything Vicky does, she does for the benefit of her children...human and canine.

I never wanted to hurt or insult you, Vicky, and if I did, I sincerely and deeply apologize.

In my book of dog owners, you are the BEST!

Aww Vicky, I LOVE Copper and believe me I am not laughing at him. He is too sophisticated and charming! Bella had the same issue when groomed. Despite being brushed 2x a week she had some matting AND was blowing her puppy coat when I took her in. As shocking as the results were, the look does grow on you and is MUCH easier to take care of. Bella is growing back and daily combing still does not reach all the tangles. I trimmed under her ears myself due to matting and now my husband says she is lopsided He told me to take her to the groomers before attempting another home haircut Even though she is only about 2 inches (barely) she will be going to a new groomer next week. Wish us luck

Thank you Jac and Linda. You're right my feathers were getting a little ruffled for my dear Copper, but I'm good now.

Linda, it is ok to laugh. Heck we still are, well, not so much now that he isn't wearing that silly shirt. It sounds like you are going through the same issues I was with Copper. Right now I only have his ears and tail to deal with and every day I still get little tangles/hair out when I use the undercoat rake. I am attributing this to Copper blowing his puppy coat and I look forward to seeing what his final adult coat will be like.

VICKY...that is one of the cutest pictures of a boy with his doodle-dog i've ever seen!!!!

I too am sorry if you took offense to a few giggles.
Copper is gorgeous and like you said when they get matted you are left with no choice.

Hey when I have max clipped next spring, I'll post it and give everyone here a really good laugh. He has a scruffy boyish look now.

Vicky,
Your Copper is a great dog, I'm sure. I apologize if my comments on his haircut offended you.

Jac, thanks for the link to the dog grooming options form.
