Default When is research not enough??

We purchased out Labradoodle directly from a breeder in New Jersey. In less than 6 months we spent over 12,000.00 in medical bills. We feel so fortunate our baby is doing ok but those medical bills add up fast. This has been quite an experience because we thought we did our due diligence prior to purchasing our puppy.

I saw an ad in the local paper, went to visit the home, met Mommy Doodle and the owner and was pleased with what I saw.
Brenna is a happy, healthy, and funny pup.
I just went with my gut. No research, just bought her.
Have you contacted the breeder and raised some heck? Did you visit the facility where she was born? I would let it be known who the breeder is and do a lot of follow up.

We did the same as you with visiting the home and meeting the mommy and daddy doodle. Really everything seemed ok but then our little puppy started to have problems. When I called the breeder she let me know that she does not guaranty her dogs and sorry your having all this trouble. I was shocked.

OUCH!!!

Did you sign a contract of any kind at all? It seems normal for "good" breeders to give you a 2 year guarantee. This breeder sounds horrible!
I'm not sure where you start, but they need to be reported and sued.
Seems like all they're in it for is the money and it doesn't sound like they give a hoot about their doodles. grrrrrrrrr

No contract. She wanted cash. She seemed so nice at first. (Breeder name removed) is her company name. First our dog almost died after 1 month and we didn't even call her to ask for anything and that was thousands of dollars. Then about another month goes by and he needed an emergency operation to remove part of his intestine. That was about 9000.00. We brought him to cornell animal hospital and they are supposed to be the best and I'm convinced they saved his life 2 or three times already. When I called her and told her she had a really bad attitude. i told her nicely I think we should at least be reimbursed for the price we paid for the dog and she said sorry I don't guaranty my puppys. I still can't get over it. I have my attorney working on it for us.

No not at all. She apparently is listing herself that way maybe for uncle sam. She had us pay cash also. She sells her puppies at the going rate and she grooms and boards dogs as well out of her home. Not sure how legal that is??

It's a good thing. Maybe it will help someone stay away from the horrible situation we are in. We fell in love with our puppy but it is putting us in the poor house with vet bills. This breeder is only out to make money no matter what happens. I will make sure to spread the word and our attorney assured us satisfaction going through the legal system. It may take some time but my wife and I are committed to see it through.

Correct. We cannot post names. Whether someone believes they are helping others or not, all are innocent until proven guilty.
I am truly not pleased with having to delete this name so often. Please stop & be forewarned.
