Default Introducing Murphy

Here is our new addition to our family: Murphy, and 8 week old female multi-gen chocolate Labradoodle. Any concerns I had about selecting a puppy were quickly eliminated when we arrived at the kennel, the breeders children were outside playing with the puppies. We wanted a female, so we had a selection of two, however, our selection was easy once we got to play a bit with 'Murphy'. (Yes, I thought of a few of those tests, and did roll her on her back.... call her, etc). So, home we went and introduced her to our Golden Retriever. They will be good friends, although the Golden sure kept a close eye on her. Our grandchildren came over this afternoon, and Murphy had a good time playing with all of them. We stopped on the way home and picked up some puppy food (Chicken Soup.....). I'm sure I'll have lots of questions .....

Well, it is 2am. First night in crate going OK, although I did let her out a few minutes ago (yes, I waited until she calmed down). First day at home was really good. We were able to read her movements and got her outside to 'go' and no accidents inside. She really wasn't interested in eating much, but she did find the 'big dog's' water bowl. I fell asleep on the floor last night watching TV, and when I woke up I had her on one side of me and our golden retriever on the other side. Life is good. (Wife was sleeping on the couch - she's the smart one).

Is there such a thing as a 'calm' puppy Yes, we are very pleased with our choice. Murphy acts like a puppy, which is fun to see her hop around like a kangaroo, but not so much fun when she tries to sink her little sharp teeth into the back of my hand. She loves all the toys that we have for our Golden, and she like to be close. (Guess we should have named her 'Shadow'. )
More pictures to come over the next few weeks, and I'm sure a few questions as well.
Regards,
Bill

Awww, what great pictures. Murphy looks adorable! Milo is 15 weeks now, and though still all puppy in many ways, he is also less demanding in terms of constant vigilance for potty training and so on. Can't believe two months into it, I already have things to miss!

Congratulations on your new doodle! Here's to many years of enjoyment.

Roxy always liked to be close to people, sleeping on laps, and still does! (Just this moment she has come across to see what I'm doing... and wipe her face on my leg unfortunately. )

When she was younger she used to pounce like a fox when playing with her ball. It was so funny but she doesn't seem to do it any more. They grow up so fast... *sniff*

Looking forward to more pics!

Murphy is very cute Bill!

I was hoping you could give me some info about the breeder you used and any other breeders you liked in the Philly area!

Thanks so much

Bill, Murphy is beautiful!! The puppy stage is wonderful (except for the sharp little teeth). Mandy is almost 2, next month, and still has some puppy in her when she is playing especially the play bow. Has Murphy taken off running at times at full speed yet? If not, just wait until she does you will be cracking up. Life with a labradoodle is full of entertainment. I will look around for more pictures of Murphy. Of course I am partial to chocolate labradoodles

Hi Cindy - actually at almost 5 months old, Murphy looks like Mandy. She has some lighter hair around her nose, and it's very difficult to see her eyes. Run at full speed? Well, at least once a day, for no apparent reason, she will start to run - a big figure 8 thru two plantings in the front yard. She will make 5 or 6 loops before she stops. She also sometimes cuts the corner a bit too sharp and spins out. Yes, I laugh. Also, we have a Golden Retrieve (5 in March) who stands much taller than Murphy. Once in a while Murphy will run at her full speed and jump against her. A few weeks ago the Golden ducked at just the right time and Murphy went flying. Yesterday, she actually jumped over the Golden! I think she was as surprised as the rest of us. Usually, after a good run she crashes and takes a nap.
Our son has two Golden Doodles, and one of them has the same characteristics as Murphy. They live in Texas, but will be out here in May. (He actually has 3 dogs - all 3 will be here). His 3 dogs, our two, our daughters 2 and another daughter has a Berner .... should be chaos

Hi Bill,
Could you send me a PM with the breeder info? We are in Northern Jersey and starting to look for a breeder.
Thanks,
Sarah
