Default Labradoodle and other dogs

How social are labradoodles with other dogs?
we have 2 dogs and 2 cats, I wanted to know if a labradoodle may be a good fit to expand the family

My doodle loves other dogs, she always wants to play (even if they don't unfortunately...)

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

My Bogart LOVES other dogs! Always gentle and kind.
Maybe once or twice, he showed his alpha with strange dogs..........but other than that..........it's awesome!
Good luck and keep us posted!

the only time i ve seen Toby get mad was when a rotty tried to
mount him..his growl actually scared him off..

other than that incident he gets along with small children and other dogs..
all his buddies are of the mini variety..

Our doodle LOVES everything! We have two small dogs (Maltsee & Yorkie Poo), a hedgehog and a ferret -- he is so gentle and sweet with all of them. He gets right down on their level to play. It's so funny when he plays with the ferret....she hops around and then he starts hopping too -- I need to get it on video!

Default Labradoodle and other dogs

Hello.....................

what worked for my dog was slowly introducing other animals and particularly dogs into his life. We had people bring over their older dogs, mainly because they could dominate him easier and he was a lot less aggressive towards them. Also bringing the dog around people will help a lot. Check into a petco or pet supply store and see if they have classes for that specific issue, I know a lot of those stores do. Hope that helps.

Your dog seems normal to me... puppies are full of energy and can be annoying to other dogs from time to time - especially little dogs.

I think that little dogs are usually able to stand their ground, and let an energetic puppy know when to knock it off.

Our dog park has hours for small dogs versus big dogs (but i have never really seen anyone stick to those rules). They all seem to get along fine, and aren't shy about letting each other know when they want to be left alone.

Labradoodles are affectionate dogs that are never aggressive, barring abuse, like most other dogs. They are extroverts and bonds closely with humans and they are intelligent and full of personality. They have seemingly endless energy and courage with a silly sense of humour.

i don t think it s a matter of whether a doodle will get along with
other dogs..but, whether they ll accept a doodle into the family..

the concern would come as you begin to bond with the doodle..then having
a jealousy issue arise with the other dogs already established in the family..

i d have each of your current dogs meet the new dog on neutral ground alone..
then eventually bringing them home together..

I agree with this. I haven't met a dog my doodle doesn't like but there are for sure dogs that don't like her because she likes to play hard.

Mandy loves dogs and cats. She does bark at cats and dogs when they walk by the house. I had (still have) a cat and a mini schnauzer when I got Mandy. The schnauzer is the boss, a 15 lb dog bosses a 60 lb dog YELP. And the cat rubs all over Mandy's face and will lay between her front paws. Also my mini schnauzer is diabetic and has cataracts so she can't see as well, Mandy "helps" her come to the door at night. I will also say that during 1 of her training classes Mandy was jumped by another dog that was not friendly and Mandy laid on the ground and did nothing to the attacker. The trainer got the other dog off Mandy (she was unharmed). I have never seen aggression from her.

Seamus is new to our house and he's 6 months old. He's getting along great with my husky, and he's still trying to figure out the cat (good luck! the husky can't figure him out either!)
