I went into the deal to purchase what I believed to be a true F1B. Once we finally got all the pedigree paperwork, after we got the puppy of course, we discovered that our puppy is a product of F1B x F1B.
First of all, WELCOME, dhclem!
Secondly, how weird is it for a breeder to hang on so tightly to an f1b label?!
The truth is that the "F" labels were developed long before there were Labradoodles - by scientists who worked on hybrids of 2 species, like peanuts, corn, tulips, etc. So we have to - or should - follow the generalized scientific terms. It makes so much more sense.

I believe, personally, that an F1b type of cross is ideal - less shedding than f1's, typically, but the Labrador isn't lost in the breeding, ya know?

Having said that, our newest puppies are f3's, from an f1b x f3 breeding....and both parents are or seem like f1b's in their soft fleece coats, so why not keep breeding from good f1b stock? (see pics in business section)

In other words, I hope you got a really nice delightful Doodle, even if the parents are f1b's instead of the offspring.

and post away!! "Newdle" - I love it!!

LOL - "CHIHU WA WA"! My lil' boy is OBSESSED with that movie too!! If he had his way we would have a Chihuahua!

Chloe is absolutely gorgeous! I love her color - can't wait to see how her coat develops and what cute pictures you were able to take! And HEY we're neighbors, I'm in Oklahoma! Sorry to hear about your "rescue dog experience". Nice that you tried though. Samson is a rescue, LUCKILY we haven't had any agression issues though.

Have fun with your new family member!!

Jac, would breeding a F1B to another F1B..basicly give you another F1B since
they re still 3/4 poodle and 1/4 lab?

other than the generational tag..would nt they be the same?

Logically they would, but in reality, the percentage dosen't always turn out to be 25% and 75%...as we all have seen, F1B puppies can look very Poodly, very Labby or something, very cute, in between!

Sort of like saying that our children are 50/50 ... half of each parent...but in reality, those genetic mixes crop up from the grand parents, aunts, cousins and sometimes we start wanting to see the mailman!

The most honest breeder, of early generation dogs, will say that we just wait and see! Honestly, using the exact same parents have presented me with sometimes quite diverse puppy traits. But that is the fun of this business!
