Hello again,
After much deliberation we have decided to definitely go with a Golden Doodle over a Giant Schnoodle - had been deliberating for about the last seven months and had almost swung towards Giant Schnoodle, but recent conversations with breeders who breed both breeds has led us to finally settle on a Golden Doodle as being the best of the bunch for us and our situation (we have a B&B - people coming and going all the time who need to NOT be constantly barked at). Of our nearest (driving distance) breeders, one is not having any standards until next spring - really can't wait that long! - and the other has only gleaming white ones. As we live in a sandy/muddy environment here in the beachy rainforest of Vancouver Island we decided a sparkling white dog would most definitely not be the way forward for us... So we are now working with Blazing Star in Manitoba - we have just today been accepted and are awaiting news of a confirmed pregnancy hopefully sometime next month with pups probably due to come home around Christmas New Year time. Only problem with this is the little might will have to be flown over to us - I know everyone has great success with this, but I can't help but feel a little nervous about it. So there were two things - one to express our huge excitment! And two, to ask of other people's experiences with Blazing Star - Nikki seems great and has been recommended to us by another breeder and also someone on this forum. Just wondering if there are any other Blazing Star "parents" out there who would share their experience, and of course their photos - I have become strangely obsessed with viewing Doodle photos so would love to see as many as possible. Please PM me with your comments about Blazing Star. Many thanks in advance. Nicky (& Chris - he will never post himself, so I just include him by default!)

Nikki was also recommended to me by people on this forum. I did connect with her but in the end I found a local breeder which meant I didn't have to transport.
BUT, in my few initial dealings with Nikki I did find her to be extremely helpful and very honest. I had my eye on one of her older puppies and she was honest with me and said he was starting to shed and she thought he may end up being a big shedder. I appreciated her honesty and wouldn't hesitate at all in getting a pup from her if I decided to get another in the future. I thought she was great.

Hi Nicky and Chris, welcome and congratulations on your decision to add a doodle to your household! (I think that you made a great selection in breed and breeder.)
I have added a request that people send a PM to you regarding their experiences with Nikki, since we (the forum moderators) are trying to stay away from either promoting or bashing specific breeders. I will say that Nikki has a good reputation among breeders. I am very happy for you and I hope that you will keep us posted, especially when you get your new baby! |

Thanks Jac,
Am getting some good info from pms, so thanks for adding that for me. I certainly will be staying in the loop - am learning so much from this forum, it's a wonderful resource and I am sure I will have more questions as the months go on. And you will probably be inundated with cute puppy pics from us newly doting parents early in the new year!

Oh, I am glad...I think that people can be far more candid and helpful in a PM than on a public forum...so thanks for that feedback.
I will be looking forward to all of those wonderful pictures and excited posts! |
