Hi All,
Im looking into the labradoodle breed. My family and I have always had labs and my older yellow lab just passed away a month ago. We are thinking about a puppy for late spring/early summer and may want try something a little different. We love labs so a labradoodle seems like a good choice. Anyone know of any reputable breeders in Massachusetts area? We are in North Central MA, so any states in the surrounding area could also work too. Even if it was just a breeder to talk about the breed so I could get more info that would be great.
Great job Martha placing all those babies!!! I can't believe brindle boy and curly black boy are still available. They are gorgeous!!!!! I want them both!!!!!!
AWWW THANKS Linda .
Well..brindle boy did have a home for 2 weeks we thought, then they backed out....Im sure it won't be long before someone inquires and falls in love.
most people this time wanted yellow colors...Last summer it was yellow colors also. The first litter everyone wanted black colors...Ya never know...
I saw the brindle pup was available again last night when I went on your site. Part of me was thinking, Hmmm, maybe a playmate for Rufus, but then I remembered how crazy it gets in my house when my son's dog Titus is over. Rufus goes crazy jumping all over the place. Not sure if this is something he'll grow out of. I'm thinking he just not mature yet. I kind of remember thinking my Black Lab, Pandora, would never mature. I think it took about 3 years before she would calm down.
In any case, I am so glad my husband picked Rufus. He's the greatest!
Mary,
We are so happy you are loving Rufus, he is such a super looking Labradoodle. Since this is their last Litter together , I am not sure if the Males from past litters will carry on the brindle trait. Time will tell with Monet. Have to wait for 1 1/2 years until she starts to birth pups ( if all her tests are fine )
We did find a loving home for Brindle Boy in New Hampshire. He has family that also adopted Red Boy "Troy" who live close by, so they will play together often & grow up as play mate brothers which is cool to see.
We meet the nicest people breeding Labradoodles. Including you Mary..
Give a big hug and kiss to Rufus for us.
Rufus says "Thank you" for you compliment. I'm so happy to hear Rufus's brother has a nice home and will be able to see one of his brothers often. Judging by the pictures of Monet, I'm sure she will have beautiful pups.
It has been way too long since I checked the forum and I apologize for that, I kept meaning to write back. I just wanted to thank everyone for all their suggestions. We ended up getting a puppy for Martha and Tom at RI Labradoodles after I heard about them for a couple of you on this forum. We absolutely love our boy, Troy, and he is such a wonderful, smart and cute puppy! We loved working with Martha and Tom and their three dogs were amazing. We couldn't of asked for a better experience! We also were able to convince our relatives to get a pup as well so they have the brindle boy, now Remy. Its great that they get to play together. I think they are both going to be big boys! Both our vets believed they would both be around 80 pounds maybe even more! I'd love to post a pic or two but I can't figure it out?
To all those who have adopted from us & those with labradoodles in the Rhode Island, Mass., Ct. area, we are planning a Rhode Island Labradoodle Romp,
on OCTOBER 4 2008.
If interrested you can contact Martha & Tom for further details.
Our email is located on our web site. Shoud be so much fun to see all of our babies once again.
THANKS JAC...OUR RI LABRADOODLE ROMP WAS A HUGE SUCCESS YESTERDAY...CANT WAIT TO POST PICS...WE HAD 20 LABRADOODLES RUNNING AROUND OUR BACK YARD.. A REAL DOG PARTY !
Martha, if you get growing-up pictures of your "brindle" guy I'd sure like to see them! He looks like the sable we got last year. But I'd like to see him either way.
I know I sound picky but I think "sable" is a more correct label for this Doodle's coloring, since it refers to the black tipping on the fur. Brindles have a distinct striping on their coats with different colors.
By the way, my vet called our sable guy a brindle when he was newborn, but when he dried off he had no striping to the coloration, and all the breeders who saw the black fur on his face helped me learn that "Jack" was actually sable.
You are tempting me to contact our Doodle family who took Jack to Oklahoma cuz I'm dying to see how he looks now.
Oh, ask Diane sometime to re-show us a picture of her boy Johnson - he's an apricot/cream parti Sable Poodle with that beautiful black tipping on his ears.
Jac, these dogs are brindles and you can see the tiger-like striping in their markings.
By contrast, this poodle has the black shadow-like coloration of a sable, like Linda's Johnson, yet there isn't a distinct patterning to the darker tones:
Our friend and colleague Helene used to have a true brindle Doodle, but she sold him, I guess. I looked but couldn't find his picture on her site anymore.
I hope this helps...and I hope I'm not in trouble for taking these pictures out of the partipoodleworld.com site!
Thanks Maureen! I appreciate the description of the banding effect...that really helps, and seeing the differences is so nice!
Looks like my Chasie is just a fading chocolate...a cafe, at best! LOL (But he sure does carry some great colors...wish I could test them all on various females.)
